The castle's architecture is one of the most suggestive and interesting sights of the Alps. From its history we have few certain data, however its exceptional and dominant position over the "Klause of Salurn", has connected the castle to some of the most significant events of the South-Tyroler history.
Even if the construction style indicates a period between 12th and 13th century, ancient documents show that the "castellum Salurna" was nominated for the first time in 1053 a.C.
On the weekends there are various folkloristic and cultural manifestations at the castle.
